About HLA

Haven Light Academy is a Christian based institution providing Accelerated Christian Education (A.C.E.) to children. HLA opened her doors in 2010 with 25 students doing ACE curriculum and the number has grown since then. It starts at Beginners Class (age 3-4) up to Grade 12. It caters for both boys and girls and offers both Day and Boarding facilities.
The school is located in a serene learning environment. It is 4.9 km from Mtwapa shopping centre along the main Mombasa – Malindi highway, approximately 900 metres behind the Coastal Bottlers plant.

What is ACE?

The letters ACE stand for Accelerated Christian Education – an individualized education curriculum that puts God at the centre and emphasizes Godly character. The founders of the ACE curriculum recognized that children are unique and learn in different ways. That’s why they have developed educational tools that equip children to live wisely, think critically, and act responsibly. Each unit of instruction in the curriculum is structured to include all three life application levels of the learning process: knowledge, understanding and wisdom. A number of distinctives set A.C.E apart from other educational programmes. These distinguishing features focus on what is best for the individual child, and, after all, that should be the primary concern of education.

Implementation Plan

The ACE curriculum in HLA will continue as it has been. However, for students who will prefer a wider option of career path (e.g. Medicine and Law) will transit at grade 10 to IGCSE.

The two curriculums will work hand in hand.The Christian foundation (value and ethos) will still be upheld, with the ACE feeding the IGCSE.

The students' entry point is STEP BY STEP and exit at grade 12 to tertiary institutions. Over the years, we have produced professionals in different fields (Bsc Architecture-KU, Medicine in Russia, Business Admninistration)

What is IGCSE?

The IGCSE syllabus was developed by Cambridge International Examination (CIE) in 1988 and is offered by over 10,000 schools in 160 countries kenya being one of them. It is the most popular international qualification for 14 year olds and above offering more than 70 subjects. Students are required to take a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 12 subjects. The core subjects are English, Mathematics and Sciences.

Faith Statement

We believe in:
– Inspiration of the Bible equally in all parts and without error in its origin
– The one God eternal existent Father, Son and Holy Spirit who created man by a direct immediate Act
– The pre-existence, incarnation, virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, ascension to heaven and the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ.
– The fall of man, the need for regeneration by the operation of the Holy Spirit on the basis of grace alone and the resurrection of all to life or damnation.
– The spiritual relationship of all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, living a life of righteous work, separated from the world, witnessing of His saving grace through the ministry of the Holy Spirit
